Special Housing Area
- The large area highlighted on the attached plan has been listed as a special housing area under the 3rd tranche of special housing areas released in May 2014.
- It is intended that some of this area be developed into approx 1,588 new sections and dwellings.
Bunnings
- New Bunnings currently under construction on the corner of Great North Road and Titirangi Road.
- Main store will include: 6,481m2 home improvement store, 1,736m2 outdoor nursery/bagged goods, 463m2 customer amenities (including café, playground and DIY learning space), 2,055m2 timber trade sales area and 1,102m2 of loading deck.
- A separate two level retail and office building of 495m2 retail and café and 750m2 office (total 1,245m2) will feature at the front of the main store.
Building Development Site D
- Council owned development site of approx 2,500m2, located to the north of McCrae Way.
- Proposal includes extension of existing library and p reviously potential for cinema use to be included in development.
- Consenting and construction programme unknown, but likely to be after Building Development Site C.
Building Development Site C
- Proposed council joint venture development site of approx 2100m2, located west of McCorquinedale Lane between McCrae Way & Totara Avenue.
- Proposed development will likely include: retail, commercial uses, housing apartments and a new public square – Merchant Sq.
- Consenting and construction programme unknown.
Clark Street Extension
- An extension to Clark Street is now complete which connects Clark Street to Great North Road .
- This created a shared zone in Totara Avenue.
McCorquinedale Lane
- Currently being constructed providing access from McCrae Way to Totara Avenue.
Car Parking Building
- 3 levels of public car parking above 1,889m2 of ground floor retail which is currently being let - current tenants are: Mexicali Fresh, 2 2 buy, & Merchant Junction Deli.
- Tasman Cook have completed a residential tower above the public car parking building, including 10 levels of 1 and 2 bedroom units (110 units in total) with the fourth level of parking being private parking.
- Lightweight terrace housing (20 units) over the remaining area of the car park building is currently being sold but no development start date has been made public.
Thom Street
- Together with Clay Pit and CSR Monier sites this was listed as a special housing area under the 2nd tranche of special housing areas released in December 2013.
- The Housing NZ development of over 1 hectare at Thom Street could provide up to 130 - 180 new dwellings once complete. The first stage of new dwellings on the site will be finished over the next three years.
- The development will produce compact one, two and three-bedroom dwellings.
- The Housing NZ land currently contains 16 existing dwellings and is zoned Terrace Housing and Apartment Buildings under the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan.
Clay Pit & CSR Monier Sites
- Together with Thom Street this was listed as a special housing area under the 2nd tranche of special housing areas released in December 2013.
- The planned development may yield approximately 3,000 new homes or sites. The site of the developer is currently empty and once accommodated the iconic Crown Lynn factory.
- This area is zoned part Metropolitan Centre, part Terrace Housing and Apartment Buildings and part Open Space under the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan.
Great North Road
Upgrade works have been carried out to Great North Road as far as Memorial Drive, this includes:
- New/wider footpaths on Great North Road and Delta Triangle
- Creating vehicle access to Delta Ave from Great North Road for city-bound traffic
- Rain gardens to help manage stormwater run-off
- Extensive landscaping including new trees, low-level planting, seating & efficient street lighting
- Road reconstruction and resealing.
Medical Centre
- New medical centre building has been completed and operational.
- 1,394m2 of ground floor retail is currently being let – current tenants are: Brioche Café, Yoghurt Story, Cloud 9 Convenience & a Pharmacy,
- First and second level of 3,632m2 is utilised as the medical centre (Totara Health).
Transport Interchange
- Bus interchange and railway station completed and operational on Totara Avenue.
Mitre 10 Mega
- New Mitre 10 Mega store has opened on the corner of Clarke Street and Astley Avenue.
- Store size is approx 11,000m2, includes: drive through area, inwards good area and timber yard – completed and operational.
McCrae Way
- A new shared space road through from Great North Road behind library and McDonalds to Memorial Drive has been completed.
